Back in September we asked teachers to send us some examples of how they used Docs in their classrooms. Teachers are some of our most avid Docs users, so I knew we would see some pretty creative ideas.
Once again, I was impressed by our teachers' creativity, ingenuity and ability to use Docs to solve every day challenges. The submissions we received ranged from forms that students use to provide peer feedback for group work or write a book review for their class to spreadsheets used to conduct science experiments. Some teachers, like Sallie Hill, even used Docs and Google Sites to run a history project with students around the world. Now that's what I call collaboration!

Thanks for including me but the History Project isn't mine (but HUGE Kudos to whoever it does belong to!). Blue Ridge is happy to have three examples though! We LOVE Docs!!!
Thanks so much for including my rubric as part of the teacher projects. I love Google Docs and use them all the time for myself and with my students and colleagues.

As a teacher, Google Docs is absolutely fantastic. I link all sorts of documents (almost everyday) to my class website that students can then access from home. it saves my school paper and is a great resource for students who may have missed class, misplaced a handout, or need to access a class document.
One thing I've never been able to get an answer on, however, is why we can't publish PDFs (no invites...just the normal "publish") to the web? I have a few teacher friends who use Google docs every day and this is above and beyond our #1 request.
I use a ton of graphic organizers, rubrics, etc. in my teaching and the Google Docs editor just can't handle them (especially the ones that have already been created and that I simply need to transfer over)...I need to publish them in pdf format for my students. There are some ways around this (different web-based services), but it's a huge pain...especially since all a text-based document takes is a single click.
I've never been able to get an official Google response...is the docs team working on anything like this?
Teachers are able to individually assess student participation and content using the revision tab on Google Docs to see how editing is proceeding and to encourage students as they work.
It helps me, as a teacher, to be able to participate in the process, not just see the final product.

Please take a look at the forums. Several people (including me) have lost their entire set of documents on Google Docs. Please investigate this. I am writing my book using Google Docs and my last backup was two weeks ago. Please please take a look at this!!

Can anybody tell me the best way to share documents with other users. We are 5 people that share documents.. do we need to mark each piece of document for sharing or is there a better way? I tried to share a whole folder but was turned down. :)

This is a great project. I'm wondering -- do you have something similar for teachers using Google Sites? My wife is a 3rd grade teacher in Oceanside, CA, and I just helped her get her site together, using Google Sites, at www.marlenetuyayscott.net .
