New flowchart shapes and multi-line text in drawings

Thursday, September 03, 2009 3:34 PM

We've just released two new improvements to the drawings in Google Docs. First, we made it easier for you to build flowcharts in drawings by adding 20 new shapes for standard flowchart components. Second, we made it possible for you to have more control over drawing text layout by supporting explicit line breaks in text boxes and text within shapes.

Try out these new features by going to any document, spreadsheet, or presentation, and inserting a drawing.

Finally.. Now only thing missing is some better way of inserting the shapes. Using the menu is just clumsy. Could there be a floating menu or choosable side menu with the images?

Thanks, but as a minimum, flowchart users need to have connectors that remain connected when the shapes are rearranged. Can we look forward to this?

The introduction of alignment made my week. granted, I have not been getting out much. Nonetheless, this will benefit me every day at work and is awesome.

Can the next set of shapes for wireframing?

Good stuff ... now if only we could insert these great charts directly into Google Sites and not only into documents.

Dear Sirs,
I would be pleased to give contribution to enhance the Google Docs automatic translation.
For example,I am Italian and I wish to warn and correct some mistakes of the automatic translator from Italian to English.
Can you insert a link, a button or the like for e-mailing you amended translations, suggestions and similar in the home page of each GDocs user?
Thank you. Francesco Bonini

Nice add-on but I'm still missing in GMAIL (Apps) and Google Doc the possibility to copy and paste an image from another document or just a screenshot (via the clipboard) and CROP this to the right size in Docs or GMAIL. And then I also want to add arrows, text or shapes on that screenshot. That's really a nightmare! Any progress on this side?

Great drawings are now included if you save your doc as word-doc

there seems to be a problem with this new enhancement.

when you try to add a shape from the shape gallery, they are all transparent and you can't see them as you are working with them. they only show up when you save the drawing. I'm hoping you can fix this bug right away.

yes, I've tested it on multiple computers in our office and it is the same issue. there seems to be a delay when you add something now and then it is showing as transparent. It only shows up when you have saved it but it is completely transparent when editing. there does not seem to be any way to make it visible even when you select a different colour.
